PicMonkey Marketing

At PicMonkey, we focused on integrated marketing to promote our cross-platform design tools.

We built campaigns based on our target audience and drove performance through SEO, SEM, and user flows.

My team delivered all visual outputs, including landing pages, in-product marketing, ad creative, email designs, blog posts, event collateral, and more.

Our approach

We drove consistency by following our brand guidelines, keeping three things top of mind:

  1. What is the main message?

  2. What is our target audience?

  3. How can we best serve them?

Designing for a SaaS design company meant needing a deep understanding of our tool functionality, the competitive landscape, and our customer base in order to exemplify desired outcomes and inspire our users to choose us over other tools.

We worked collaboratively through Mural, Asana, Slack, and by sketching ideas on whiteboards.

Integrated marketing

We treated feature promotions, targeted campaigns, sales, and events across channels.

This included some or all of the following:

  • Ads

  • PPC pages

  • Feature landing pages

  • Blog posts

  • In-product modals

  • Email campaigns

  • Tool tips

  • Social posts

  • Videos

  • Product notifications

Key results

Grew cash revenue by nearly 10% in 2020 by revamping the marketing strategy from volume and traffic to profitability, increasing EBITDA from 20% to 30%.

Increased conversion up to 300% by using A/B testing to optimize layout, visuals, ads, and user flows.

Boosted order value 46% and cash revenue nearly 10% through creative direction for integrated marketing, product marketing, and targeted campaigns.

Increased email performance over industry standards by partnering with our marketing team to develop a more effective strategy and engaging layout.

Drove +30% overall traffic with over 9K new pages from 2019-2021. Gained and maintained high brand awareness through targeted events and live user demos.

Directed and produced assets, demos, and collateral that lead to us getting acquired by Shutterstock in September 2021 for $110M.

I partnered with our marketing and content leadership to provide clear and strategic direction.

My team operated as a bridge between functions in order to balance needs between product-led growth and traditional marketing to create the best possible user experience and consistent visual branding.
